Frankly Scarlet Lily

This original watercolor painting measures 12.5x10.5" on heavyweight printmaking paper. The paper is a creamy off white and the colors are deep red and warm yellows and oranges, the background is washed with a lovely green and green brown.

When I was young this flower was planted in my yard. I always thought the name was so funny (considering I'm a bit of a film geek). I waited with anticipation for the time when it would bloom every season.

The blooms weren't prolific, usually only a few flowers struggled to make it to full bloom, but the color was so intense. I was never disappointed. I had to capture their majesty, so this painting was conceived.
